Strategic Focus Areas

SALBA’s mandate is to provide support and a service to its members in all non-competitive spheres of our industry.  Typically, we would provide a service to our members on matters such as:

SALBA coordinates industry positions and liaises with National Treasury during the annual excise adjustment process. On an ad-hoc basis we consolidate the industry position on tax policies that impact on our members and the industry in general.

Illicit Trade

We play a key role in managing and coordinating industry initiatives to combat the illicit trade in alcohol. SALBA brings together key stakeholders from industry and government to address an issue that inherently presents a dual challenge to government and industry, depriving our fiscus of much needed revenue while putting consumers at risk with potentially hazardous concoctions.

Ensuring that our members retain their licence to trade

This objective is the cornerstone of our member’s commitment to responsible and ethical trade, which culminates in our participation in:

  • AWARE.org (The Association for Alcohol Responsibility and Education ), as founding members of the organisation. Click here to find out more about the AWARE.org
