Vacancy : General Manager

A vacancy exists for a General Manager within SALBA. The successful candidate will report to the CEO and will amongst others be responsible for:

  • Finance and Administration – Compile and manage the annual budget, review budgets and annual financial statements of other industry associations, petty cash, updating the model for project calculations and membership fees, deal with finance queries, SALBA stats programme, office management
  • Project Management – Coordinate research projects, participate in category projects, drive project communication campaigns
  • Wine Category – Represent SALBA at various industry bodies, both local and international, client services, participate in committees, task teams, working groups, advisory forums, participate in regulatory affairs
  • Ad hoc tasks

Requirements

  • B Comm Degree or Legal degree or equivalent qualification
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar business environment
  • Knowledge of the South African liquor industry and relevant legislation
  • Management experience
  • Sound financial, administrative, project management skills

Requirements Continued

  • Excellent IT skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Good interpersonal relations and communication skills
  • The ability to function under pressure, independently, as an individual and as part of a team
  • A professional with strong leadership skills, action-orientated, assertive and innovative
