Notices have been provided to inform industry stakeholders of the reduction in the minimum alcohol content on certain wine tariff lines from a minimum of 6.5% to 4.5%. The percentage band has been extended to a maximum alcohol content of up to 16.5%. The amendment thus brings more wine products under the ambit of 20 tariff headings (refer to Customs and Excise Act, 1964. Amendment of Schedule No. 1 (No. 112A1157)).There is also a duty rebate facility in place and this is also amended accordingly to concur with the tariff lines to which the rebate applies.
